Sekiu Community Center

This wonderful old building began as a schoolhouse in 1916 that held elementary grade classes for Sekiu children until its closure in 1946. By this time all the areas children were attending classes at Clallam Bay School and the Cape Flattery School district condered the old Sekiu School surplus. In 1991 the building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places, approximately 75 years after it was constructed. The dedication ceremony for the building was held in September of 1991.

The Sekiu Community Center was substatially remodeled between 2002 and 2004. The entire foundation, along with the downstairs, were rebuilt and the roof structures were strengthened.

Local citiziens who wanted to keep the building accessible for community functions met with the Cafe Flattery School District and arranged for the building to be reserved for various activities. The building hosts many events like weddings, receptions, dances, classes, small conferences, and other special events and continues to used for community meetings.

While the upstairs kitchenette is nicely furnished, renters should not plan to use it to cook for large groups. The downstairs kitchen can handle meal preparations and dishes for over 100 people. A food handler’s permit may be required. Please review the Clallam County Human and Health Services website for more information.


Community Center parking is limited to 30 vehicles.


In accordance with Washington State Law, alcohol consumption is not allowed on school district premises.
