2018 Recreational Halibut Fishing Rules

For our local and visiting Halibut fishers, preliminary 2018 Halibut regulations have been released. For all areas of the Puget Sound, including Clallam Bay and Sekiu in Area 5, a quota will be in place. Information on the quota has yet to be released on the Washington WDFW website however.

Halibut fishing will be open on the following days in Area 5:

  • Friday, May 11th
  • Sunday, May 13th
  • Friday, May 25th
  • Sunday, May 27th
  • Thursday, June 7th
  • Saturday, June 9th
  • Saturday, June 16th
  • Thursday, June 21st
  • Saturday, June 23rd
  • Thursday, June 28th
  • Saturday, June 30th

Anglers fishing in Areas 5 and 6 may retain ling cod and Pacific cod caught while fishing for halibut as long as they are fishing in waters deeper than 120 feet on days in which halibut fishing is open.
