Makah Museum
Artifacts, depicting the Makah’s history are beautifully displayed.
These priceless objects originated from the archaeological excavations of
the Ozette village at Cape Alava, which had been perfectly preserved under
a mudslide 500 hundred years ago.In the 1970’s, storms eroded the mudslide, exposing the treasures contained within.
The Makah museum also features a full-sized longhouse, complete with dioramas of the marine environment, nature sounds and recordings of the Makah language and singing. The museum store sells Makah art objects and gifts.
The Makah museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily between Memorial Day and mid-September. Winter hours are the same, except closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Tours can be pre-arranged, and are available upon request.
